In the past we have found value in owning stocks that are part of an announced "take over". We view our participation in these stocks as risky and do not necessarily recommend taking a position for investors. However, if you like the stock and it meets your investing criteria ownership is ok. If you do not like the stock but buy it for the ride you are speculating, plain and simple.
Recently, our investments in Potash, Bunge and Air Gas have benefited from take over activity. These were stocks we liked well before the went "into play" and we saw no reason to sell them when tack over activity began.
We did not own SLE and would not own it at this time as an investment.
We view owning SLE as a speculative play, plain and simple. The financials are not particularly attractive and the stock would probably fail making the cut in for most dividend investors screens.
The format of the analysis below is an expanded version of our standard format. We give a lot of ranking information across the board.
When reviewing the array, keep in mind that the March date includes a dividend that is unlikely to be earned as we expect the stock will be called prior to payment.
